Catherine Seton

Catherine Seton (1800-1891) was the daughter of Elizabeth Ann Seton. She became Mother Mary Catherine Seton after she joined the Sisters of Mercy. She was called "the Angel of the Tombs" during the Civil War while she acted as a far-stationed nurse for injured Union forces. She was denied her request for serving as nurse in North Carolina.[1]
